Analese & Aunt Netty

Fun, fun day today. Analese got to bond with Aunt Netty quite a lot. Tons of Mother's Day celebrations today. Now I'm too tired to really blog it all, but the best days are the ones where I fall into bed happily exhausted.

Lovely Friday

We started the day by blissfully sleeping in. Mariele crawled in our bed at some point during the night. You know me and sleeping kids. I can't resist.

Then the girls watched a little PBS kids after I dressed them in the adorable matching dresses from Grandma.

After spending a nice afternoon with Meemee, we headed over to Uncle David's and Aunt Netty's for yet another birthday celebration for Analese.

After all of that, it took the girls about 5 minutes to fall asleep (well, 5 minutes for Mariele and about 30 seconds for Analese).

At Grandma's...

Today we made it over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house. The girls were very excited to arrive.

Mommy, need me!

That is Marielespeak for "Mommy, I need you." Or probably more accurately translated, "Mommy, I want you. I'm in a very clingy mood and just need to be held and cuddled and I don't care if I'm hindering you in any way." But, honestly, who could say no to those big, beautiful, blue eyes?

A little freaky to me...

'Course, I'm just not really a fan of long fingernails in general, especially not on a 5 year old. But Analese absolutely would not let me rest today until I helped her press on the nails that came in the Tangled nail and makeup kit that she received for her birthday. They adhere to the nail just enough to stick, but not so much that they don't come off easily. I'm sure they can be reused several times.

Analese is 5 years old today!

And she says her legs are longer!

This morning I put 5 candles in her breakfast German pancake (thanks for that recipe, Carrie. I make it all the time!). This is Analese's favorite breakfast, and it seemed only fitting to serve this for her on her birthday morning.

Her Daddy took her to lunch at Red Robin and then to the movie theater to see Hop. She was just so excited about her birthday and all of the special attention she was receiving.

Mariele and I enjoyed a wonderful nap together while they were gone. Poor Mariele has had a hard time with Analese's birthday, because she is in the "me too" phase. She just doesn't get the concept of a person's birthday being their special day. January is a long time away!

Party Time!

We had Analese's birthday party today at The Little Gym. I made the cupcakes (from scratch, I might add). I was a little nervous that they might look like crap and I would have to pick some cupcakes up at Kroger on the way to the party. But I really think they turned out very well! I was proud of them, anyway.

Analese was so excited to have a birthday bash.

The kids all had a great time.

Mariele did not quite understand why it was not HER birthday, and why she did not get to open presents.

Analese REALLY enjoyed opening her presents, but she also enjoyed handing out the party favors to all of her guests.

I still can't believe that she turns 5 at 8:04 MDT tomorrow!
