Happy 90th birthday to my Mammaw!!
My Mammaw turned 90 years old today! I talked to her on the phone a couple of days ago, and she says she does not feel 90 at all!! In fact, she was talking about going shopping for a pair of brown shoes to match this particular brown purse that she has! She is fun-loving. She goes with us to the beach every year for our annual beach vacation. She is very giving. She loves to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is vivacious! She sees the humor in situations and has declared herself to have a "twisted" sense of humor. She is very funny! She is an awesome and amazing woman! Happy Birthday, Mammaw. I love you!

God's country?
I was just reading Analese her bedtime story, Goodnight God. Before reading the book, I asked her where God lives. Her quick response . . . "ARKANSAS!" Now we are pretty fond of our home state of Arkansas, but I still had to correct her and say Heaven!

Do YOU know what a swit is?
This morning as I was helping (as much as she would allow) Analese to get dressed, she was asking me if I know what a swit is. I repeated, "A swit?" She would pronunciate a little clearer for me, "A SWIT, mommy." I would repeat the unknown word back to her and she would again say the same word. "Do you know what a swit is mommy?" So finally, "I give, what is a swit?" She said, "A swit swims underwater, mommy!" And that is when I realized . . ."A SQUID!" "Yes, Mommy, a SWIT." Then I tried to help her say the word squid and her efforts were pretty cute. She can't quite make that particular consonant cluster sound yet. That just gave me the idea to try to get it on video! Maybe later.

Suburban campfire and Mother's Day Weekend . . .
Yesterday we spent the evening with our friends who have discovered the joys of camping out on their driveway. We enjoyed the evening festivities of roasting marshmallow and melting chocolate over the campfire. I did not think it would be all that feasible to try driveway camping with Mariele, so we came home to our beds to sleep. But it was a good time! Here are some pics that Yng Yng took with her camera:
Doesn't Analese look grown up here?

Analese with buddy Caleb. Last night her greeting to him was a hug and "I love you, Caleb."

This morning we went to church. They had the typical Mother's Day weekend church service with the flowers for the moms in the congregation. I got 2 flowers! Here's me and my girls:

I'm pretty excited because we have reservations at The Melting Pot for next Tuesday! I've never been. We did not want to go tonight because Analese is too worn out from her swimming this afternoon. We tried to get reservations tomorrow, but the earliest time available was 7:15, which is kind of late for us. So we are going at 5:00 on Tuesday!

Sometimes it aches a little . . .
when I realize how much Analese is growing up. To think that just a little over a year ago she was still a co-sleeping AND breastfeeding toddler. Now she sleeps in her own bed in her own room and she is a three year old preschooler. She spends her days asserting her independence and wanting to do everything herself. She knows her numbers and her ABCs and has an impressive Spanish vocabulary as well. And she's potty trained! Sometimes at the end of a big day I look in at her and realize that she has spent the day playing with others and exploring her world and learning independence and not necessarily clinging to me. Then I just long to hold her close to me. And that is just what I did a little while ago and she told me, "Snuggle me a little looser, Mommy." Looser? How 'bout tighter?
